Nonlinear lines

So this all started with The Diva giving a challenge to use grid tangles without regards for lines being straight.  My first one I am not very happy with but I put it here to so that even though you may not like what you see, the practice still is worth it.  I did this one on Monday night.

Tangles: Click Clack, Ciceron, Jemz, Yew Dee, DL Sunray, and Finery.

Tonight I was really into tangling.  I ended up doing two different tangles.  I didn't like the purple one at first but I persisted and I really like how it turned out.  I was still trying to use a grid based tangle without heed for the lines being straight.  It's amazing how even though the lines are anything but straight when you look at them closely, they still work so nicely together when the whole tangle is complete.
Tangles:  Knights Bridge, Nekton, Fescu, Crescent Moon, Tipple, and Static.

The last one I did tonight is my favorite.  Again it started out not coming together as I would have liked it to but then I remembered reading that there are no mistakes in Zentangle and so I kept at it.  I really feel like it all came together and the "mistakes" that I made along the way ended up incorporating quite nicely.  I think the Poke Root tangle is my favorite part of this one and it reminded me of berries so I named this one "Berry Entanglement."
Tangles: Poke Root, Hollibaugh, Mooka, Flukes, Shattuck.

Heart addiction

So I was playing with various new tangles today just learning how to do them and I came across one that is just fun, Heartline.  I had fun mindlessly doodling this during the day so when I went to draw an actual tangle this evening, I decided to start with this one.  I think I have found a new tangle for when I am on the phone ;)
Tangles: Heartline, FLorz, Zanzee, Fengle, Trentwith, Warangaie, and Stone Necklace.

Seaside confessions

So tonight's tangle started again while I was taking the boys outside (something about standing around waiting for a dog decide where to pee gives one's brain time to wander) and I got an idea for a tangle.  In my head I picked up a book.  Before I could open the cover, the book flew open and all these sea creatures started spilling out.  I can only guess that my brain is ready for some warmer weather.  Needless to say the book had to be something about the ocean and what better book than Jules Verne's classic?  Well I did the best but it was way cooler in my head (alas, a typical problem for me).  Regardless here it is:
Tangles: FIsh Net, Dooleedo, Aura-leah, Antidots, Copada, Cruffle, Aquafleur, and Angel Fish.

The tangled beginnings

I have been playing for the last few days with zentangle.  I started out wanting to find some more creative relaxation techniques for my students.  I am finding that I am really enjoying it myself and becoming rather addicted.  Here is my tangled world so far:

Chaos
This was my first attempt.  This seemed more of a mess than anything to me.  There are several tangles used and several things I just made up to fill some space and let my mind wander during the boring meeting I was in (oops... did I just admit that?)  Actual tangles used: Huggins, Eylet & Ribbon, Ixorus, Vortex, Hibred, and Cartoosh.

Starfish
I had so much fun working on my tangle during the day that I wanted to do more when I got home that evening.  I wanted to try working inside a shape for my next attempt.  After I had finished drawing, Andrew said that I should try coloring it in.  This was the result.  Tangles used are Huggins, Ennies, Bluebonnets, Blooming-Butter, Ahh and Cartoosh.

Northern Dreams
So like I said I was WAY into the tangling that day.  After I had completed Starfish, I took the boys outside because man are their biological clocks accurate.  As I stood out there I couldn't help but notice the aurora cause it was covering the WHOLE sky!  I was seeing tangles as I watched the aurora so I decided to continue the tangling madness.  Tangles: Hurry, Cadent, Meer, XYP, and one I like to call Easter.

Flower Explosion
This one started while I was monitoring testing the next day.  I began by trying my hand at the Opus tangle and thought it looked more like a flower then what I originally intended so I went with it.  I wanted to make it look like the sky above so I used Paradox to look somewhat like the Milky Way.  Other tangles used were Hibred, Fife, Munchin, and Sez.

Just Lines
This final one I did last night.  I started wanting to do something with my initial.  I like the look of Hollibaugh behind it and decided I needed something less rigid to fill the J so I turned to Amoeba.  From there the rest was a result of random number generation.  Other tangles that wound up in this tangling: Heartrope, Gingham, Stained Glass, Bandola, and Dekore.

So this is just the beginning.  Let's see where the tangles lead to next...
