Fairy Invitations

This challenge was to create a place of fairies. This was a very fun challenge actually. There are so many tangles out there that look like they belong in the world of fairies. As I was finishing it I wanted something for the sky and I thought what better than mist as fairies are in the land of enchantment and for some reason I think of mist when I think of this land. Hope you enjoy.
Tangles used: Cyme, Birds On A Wire, Cat-kin, Brax, Ibex, Mist

Initialize

So this challenge sounded simple at first but it proved actually a bit more difficult than first thought. The challenge was to use my initials as the string but to have them one in front of the other. I found that J and N don't actually look all that great one over the other, instead they become a rather boring line. So then I decided to turn the tile 90 degrees and voila, something appealing. So here it is.

Tripping around

Diva challenge 28 had us using Tripoli, a tangle that was new when Laura released the challenge. So here it is, in various forms, with a background of hollibaugh.

New tangle

My husband and I were laying in bed the other night when he curled up behind me and put his arm around me and said, "huggle." When I asked him what that was he said, "you know like a hug and a snuggle all tangled up together." And of course cause I had just finished doing some Zentangle, my mind started making a picture of a new tangle with people "huggling." And so here we are with the results...

Duotangle

This challenge was to use only 2 tangles, dex and verdigogh. I also decided to try out my new Sakura soufflé pens. I should have read the entire package first and then I would have known that these pens don't really work on pourous materials. Oh well it still looks cool at least from a distance, lol.

A little help from a friend...

The challenge was to get someone else to draw the string and I was finally able to get someone, Andrew!  He drew an "a" string so I decided to go with the theme and only do tangles with "a" names.

No name

I have no name for this one. I was going through learning some new tangles and I remembered I had this tile ore string from a while ago. So sidetracked from my "lessons" I was... Here are the results of my distraction.
Tangles used: fescu, flux, cyme, double d's, starawn

Now it just needs a name...

Spiral out

Diva challenge 26. Use a spiral string. Sounds easy right? Wrong. I don't normally spend a whole lot of time planning my tangles but every time I went to start, the tangles I thought of just didn't seem to work in my brain. So I sat here with the square in front of me with nothing more than a spiral string on it for what seemed like hours. Finally I decided on a tanglation of flovine for the spiral. The came everything else and again I sat. I wanted to do multiple tangles that kind of melded into one another but when I picked up my pen, it didn't feel right. Not sure why but I started drawing hollibaugh and I decided to go with it for the entire background. There is something about the linear simplicity of hollibaugh behind the curvy and delicate flowerlike quality of flovine. I am actually quite happy with my results.
